We all know people with disabilities are capable of great things—this includes being world class contemporary artists! In this course students will learn about different artistic mediums including pastel, watercolor and acrylic painting, weaving, and collage and the long history of artists with disabilities who have used these tools to create their stunning and iconic work. Guest speakers will include Austin-based artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities who will talk about how they got started and what their practice looks like today. Students will get to experiment with making their own work inspired by the art of makers with IDD and see they too have the potential for artistic greatness.
